Where do I begin? My daughter danced for 7 years while in middle and high school with this dance company, Enchanted Garden, in Ridgefield CT and she is now 26 years old. I was hired to shoot candid dance photos during their dress rehearsal the day before their dance recital.
Things in life do come full circle!
Her dance teacher is still there and my daughter recently told me how important/influential this woman was during her childhood. It was challenging growing up during those years as a teenage girl. Dance was a nice outlet and also bonding experience for my daughter and her dance friends. Her dance teacher not only taught her how to dance but how to have confidence/a stage presence and also get along and dance together with her peers. There was certainly animosity/jealousy/resentment especially when certain lead roles and positions on stage had to be worked out. Those situations taught the girls at a pivotal age how to handle their emotions and deal with the situations in a mature way.
I loved to watch/photograph the younger girls dancing this year thinking how they aspire to be like the older girls one day. This is especially apparent in the dance numbers where they are dancing together.
Enjoy a brief snapshot of my favorite images.
